Award Books
Mark Twain
Missouri students in Grades 4-6 have the opportunity to read books from a list of nominated Mark Twain titles. When finished with a book, they can take online quizzes to earn rewards throughout the school year. Students can then vote for their favorite titles. The Mark Twain Award is awarded to the winning book/author by the Missouri Association of School Librarians. To read summaries about this year's nominees, click the logo to the left. These nominated titles can be checked out in our library, at the Mid-Continent Public Libraries, and on Sora, the Student Reading App.
GKCRead
Missouri students in Grades 2-4 have the opportunity to read books from a list of nominated GKCRead titles. When finished with a book, they can take online quizzes to earn rewards throughout the school year. Students can then vote for their favorite titles. The Great Kids Can Read Award is awarded to the winning book/author by the Greater Kansas City Association of School Librarians. These nominated titles can be checked out in our library, at the Mid-Continent Public Libraries, and on Sora, the Student Reading App.
Show Me
Throughout the school year, the Library Media Specialists will read the Show Me nominees to all 1st and 2nd Grade classes, and students will vote for their favorites. Building Block
Throughout the school year, the Library Media Specialists will read the Building Block nominees to all Kindergarten classes, and students will vote for their favorites. The Missouri Building Block Picture Book Award is awarded to the winning book/author by the Children's Services Round Table of the Missouri Library Association.
